There are certain products that have been around for sometime. Innovation for these products due to their age, doesn’t come around often. One such product would be the keyed lock.
Locks have been around for ages. And sure there have been some changes to them over the years, but not much that would even come to mind. Yet keyed Locks are a product that has stood the test of time. My great grandparents used them, I use them and I dare bet future generations will use them. So how can these items be innovated? How can Locks get better? I have that answer.

Let’s begin by explaining what a B.O.L.T Lock is. These Locks are engineered to use your vehicles ignitionkey to open the lock. And you can use your ignition key for every lock in the companies lineup.
What’s the significance of this?
Well, now instead of using a key ring that rivals most school janitors, you now have one key that can open all your BOLT Locks. For example in my situation, I have a trailer that is behind a gate. I now have one key that will unlock the gate pad lock, the trailer coupler pin lock, the trailer coupler lock as well as the hitch receiver lock for my truck. That whole process of unlocking the trailer and getting it on the road has been simplified.
I assume you’re now asking how does this work.
The smart folks at B.O.L.T Lock have engineered these locks to be able to read your key the first time you insert it and turn the key inside the lock. It then sets the pins inside the lock to match your key and boom, it’s programmed to use your key and your key only. This means no one can then come in later with their key are reprogram it. It gets programmed once and to one key.
I have to note here. When you purchase these locks you will need to buy the ones that are specifically labeled for your vehicle. We used a Dodge Ram, so the locks we used were labeled specific for a Dodge/Jeep/Ram vehicles. They make locks to accept those keys also.
Let’s cover the benefits of this.
I personally have at least 5 key rings with various keys on them for the multitude of locks I have. It gets annoying at times having to run back into the house to get the one key ring I forgot. Or even worse if you lose that key you’re stuck. With B.O.L.T Lock, I can program all of their Locks to my ignition key and bam, no more running around.
We have a gate to our property so we locked it up with the B.O.L.T Lock padlock. We also have a trailer with a spare tire attached so we used their cable lock to secure the tire to the trailer. The trailer also is now secured using their trailer coupler pin lock as well as their trailer coupler lock, which comes with 2 different size ball attachments. Which makes it capable of fitting 1-7/8″, 2″ and 2-5/16″ couplers. I can fully say the famous phrase, “That ain’t going nowhere.” We’re also using their receiver lock to keep our ball hitch attached to our truck.

This really does make securing our trailer to our vehicle or securing it in its parking stall amazingly simple. I’ll admit, I’m a man and I lose things, or I’ll forget what key opens what lock. It’s happen so many times. It’s a common problem when you have tons of keys. But B.O.L.T Lock simplifies that issue where all the locks are opened by one key. And with it being the ignition key, I think it’s genius. I myself have a much easier time finding my vehicle ignition keys than I do random keys to all my different locks. We have had these locks on our equipment for a few months now. They have seen heat, rain and freezing temps and have given us no issues. One of our favorite aspects is, these are super simple to program and very easy to install. I personally love the vibrant red color on their locks because it stands out. It actually makes my truck look better.
