Salt Lake City — Utah’s Governor Spencer Cox has announced that the state has forced a Chinese company to sell the motorsports park located in Tooele County. The property in question sits significantly close to U.S. Military property.

In a news conference Cox stated, “This is not about fear, it’s certainly not about targeting people, this is about protecting Utah’s land, water, infrastructure and our service members.” He continued to state, “We welcome lawful investment and partnership but we will not allow other adversarial governments to gain leverage over critical assets.”

This all stems with the track owner China based, Mitime being too closely affiliated with the Chinese Government. Beau Mason, Utah’s Commissioner of the public safety department stated that they were able to build enough evidence to the Mitime to the restricted foreign entity.

“The land has been divested, and is in the hands of a domestic partner and back under Utah’s control, Mason stated.

Utah Lawmakers said the property could have been used to spy on sensitive military sites nearby. The property itself is located across a highway from Utah’s Tooele Army Depot and the Utah Test and Training Range. Governor Cox said that there were also concerns that drones could be launched from the property to spy on U.S. Military sites.

It was announce by Grantsville City 2 days ago that PV3 Investments had purchased the Motorsports Park and that they are committed to restoring the track, keeping it active, and serving racers, fans, and the community.

It remains to be unclear if this will effect racing schedules at the track this year as there are already racing series and events slated for the calendar for 2026.
