At 8,500 feet between Mt. Whitney and Death Valley lies Cerro Gordo – a ghost town with no running water, limited access, and some of the harshest weather in California. Most people would see desolation; Brett Underwood saw possibility.

For the past several years, Brent has been living alone in this forgotten mining town, working to restore it building by building. His mission goes far beyond survival; it’s about honoring the past while creating a future. With grit, vision, and respect for history, he’s breathing new life into Cerro Gordo, reviving not just a place, but a sense of purpose and community thought lost to time.

Underwood brings to life Polaris’ core pillars of hard work and dedication reinforcing the values of toughness, resilience and exploration that align with Polaris’ “Tough Doesn’t Quit” campaign and commitment to quality.
