Spanish duo Pedro Acosta and Jorge Martín hung tough in the German Grand Prix on Sunday to finish inside the top five with 2024 MotoGP champion Martín now leading the 2026 rider standings by 14 points. Here is all you need to know:
– Saturday’s Sprint Race at the iconic Sachsenring circuit saw seven-time MotoGP champion Marc Márquez nick the win from younger brother Álex with Martín sixth and Acosta ending up eighth.
– Sunday’s race saw Márquez start from pole position and the veteran Spaniard never looked like giving up the chance to reel off an historic 10th German MotoGP victory by the end of the 30 laps.
– Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio was in amongst the leaders at the start before crashing out on lap four as Japan’s Ai Ogura and Trackhouse Aprilia teammate Raúl Fernández engaged in a duel behind.
– Red Bull KTM’s Acosta looked like challenging for a podium at one stage after powering through from eighth on the grid, while Aprilia rider Martín battled with two-time MotoGP champion Pecco Bagnaia.
– With Ogura getting ahead of Fernández to grab second by the chequered flag, it was left for Acosta to secure fourth place with a brave Martín fending off Italian Bagnaia to end up in fifth place.
– Martín extended his 2026 title advantage slightly to 14 points, while Italian Enea Bastianini finished ninth, Red Bull KTM’s Brad Binder 10th and Pro Honda LCR rider Diogo Moreira 11th.
– Turkiye’s Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was 15th on the day, however Spaniard Maverick Viñales did not finish the race late on – the same fate as Spaniard Álex Márquez who now sits ninth in the 2026 title standings.
