One year ago I had the great opportunity to do a sit down interview with Mickey Leech the CEO of Schumacher Electric. In that interview we took the opportunity to learn all about Schumacher Electric. This included the history of the company, what product offerings the company gives consumers, and what role the company was playing in the EV charging market.
This year we again were able to setup an interview with Mickey. We was hands down my favorite interview at the SEMA/AAPEX show last year and this year wouldn’t be any different. Going into this interview we really wanted to see what’s changed for Schumacher in the year since we last talked. I also wanted to see if things have changed or cooled off in the EV charging market. As EV’s were the hot item last year, some opinions are that the EV market isn’t as robust as it was just one year ago. As well last year we asked Mickey were he felt A.I. would come into play in the automotive aftermarket industry.
One of the biggest topics and perfectly timed subjects of our interview was the Economy. Our interview fell on the day of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. There’s obviously a lot of opinion of what the economy could do based on the outcome of the election. But, going into SEMA/AAPEX this year there’s dispute, the economy has seen better days. The automotive industry it’s self has reported record profit losses. I asked Mickey last year what he thought of consumers holding onto their vehicles longer meant for Schumacher and the replied, “those are our people.” And it’s true, a company to offers consumers a product that will help their vehicle last longer is obviously of great need now with the average consumer holding off on larger purchases. We both agreed, on election day as we talked prior to any races being called we couldn’t say where the economy would head. We all could only hope it goes in the right directions for all of us.
I can tell Mickey is one of those CEO’s that knows his company and by that I mean he knows everything about the product offerings. I went through Schumacher’s website last year before I met with Mickey, and I’ll tell you it is almost overwhelming the amount of products they offer. And Mickey knows each one by heart. He’s also a really down to earth type of guy that you could sit back and talk about any subject with. Like I said last year, he was my favorite interview at the SEMA/AAPEX show. And believe it or not, he was my favorite again this year. Schumacher Electric is in good hands in my opinion. They continue to push the envelope with new great products for all vehicles including EVs.
We have our entire sit down interview with Mickey this year linked below.
Great subjects were covered but even greater answers were given.
Thanks again to Mickey and the entire Schumacher Electric team. They treated us with the upmost respect while we were at their booth. Find anything and everything you could want for power conversion products at http://www.schumacherelectric.com
