What the Pros Use, does the Tasmanian Tiger Tac Modular Pack 30 Vent live up to that title?

We here at Torqued Magazine would like to think of ourselves as outdoor enthusiasts, we camp, we hike, we explore. With those activities we need products that we can rely on. We need products that will do exactly what we need them to do for specific tasks. When it comes to carrying all of our important gear into the wild, we need something that will be tough with a good amount of space inside. But most importantly we need that item to lighten our burden on our bodies.

We found that product in the Tasmanian Tiger Tac Modular Pack 30 Vent. It’s a long name, but a long name for good reason. That name covers what this pack is and what it does.

Let’s get into it.

The TT Pack30 vent begins with being manufactured with the highest quality materials. These materials include T-square Rip Cordura 700 Den, YKK zippers and high quality mesh for the inner liner pockets.

We did a tear test on this Cordura by purposely rubbing it and snagging it on tree limbs and thicker branches. Something that may tear or rip up any other pack had zero to no effect on the Cordura. We literally tried multiple times to snag this pack on something and it flat out wasn’t affected in any way.

If you’re into packs setup with a Molle system, then you’ll love the TT Modular 30 Vent. It features laser cut Molle on the Front, and Molle hook and loop on the inside with velcro giving you tons of options for your Molle dreams to come true.

Let’s not forget that this is a Tactical pack and marketed as what the pro’s use. And nowhere is that more evident in the fact that this pack has antenna ports on the top for those using comms units. He have not seen that on any other packs we’ve had in the stable.

On both sides of this pack you will have, side pocket made of elastic material which can easily handle water bottles or various other large items needing quick access. up top you have zigzag rubber lacing with a cinch cord lock. This makes for a great spot to attach maybe a wet poncho to dry out or a small blanket. The lid does have a good sized mesh zippered pocket that is something other packs just do not have. Also on the pack of the lid you will have a strong carrying handle that makes for an easy way to grab the pack when needed.

Let’s talk about these hip fins on this pack. I flat out love these. I’m not the shortest of people being 6’3″ tall with most of my height coming in my upper torso. And these hip fins adjusted supper well to my hips and the pack fit very well on my back. The hip fins are padded but also made of mesh, allowing them to be vented and keep dry while hiking. The height of this pack is perfect at 20.08″ it fit perfectly on my back. I didn’t feel like it was dragging on my rear end and it wouldn’t interfere with any type of hat I may be wearing. And just a side not on these hip fins. They worked like a charm keeping the weight of my gear on my hips and not on my shoulders. I’ve had shoulder surgery myself and believe me I can tell when my shoulders are carrying the weight on my backpacks. But this pack was perfectly designed with comfort in mind. The hip fins feel great, the shoulder straps felt good and the sternum strap was firm, but not uncomfortable. I’ve heard other reviewers say that the sternum strap doesn’t give much room for those with bigger chests. But, I have to say it wasn’t a problem for us and ours wasn’t maxed out either.

This pack also gets it’s name from the X Vent Zero plus carrying system. What exactly does that mean? The pack has two flexible rods intersecting in a X shape that give the pack a flexible backplate and give the pack its form. We are totally in love with this system as it keeps the main body of the pack off of your back thus keeping a venting action while on hikes. Bam the Vent in the name shows itself. I’m a huge fan of this, as the biggest draw back of hiking for me has always been drenching myself with sweat from my backpack literally sitting on my back. The X vent system eliminates that part I’ve always despised about backpacking.

What else can we say? This pack lived up to and surpassed our expectations of it. And isn’t that what you really want when purchasing a product like this. That it does what it says it does, but also does more than you expected? The answer is yes. Yes that is what you want.
