Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s team leader scores his first podium in six Grands Prix with a fighting ride in the searing Spanish heat.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pedro Acosta renewed his bid for a top three finish in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship standings after riding to second place at the MotoGP of Aragón on Sunday to score his first podium finish since June’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Here is all you need to know:
– As the sun beat down on the Motorland Aragón circuit all weekend, Acosta made an impressive start to proceedings on Saturday by qualifying in sixth place and then finishing fourth in the Sprint race won by Marc Márquez ahead of his brother, Álex.
– Carrying his speed over to Sunday’s Grand Prix, Acosta made a fast start and moved up to third behind early leader Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Márquez on the opening lap.
– As Márquez moved into the lead on Lap 6, Acosta followed him through past Bezzechi and into second place. From there he fought hard to keep the pressure on the nine-time world champion, but couldn’t quite reel in the Ducati rider and crossed the finish line 1.7s behind his fellow Spaniard as Bezzechi held on the third.
– Second was Acosta’s best finish since the Hungarian Grand Prix back in June, six races earlier, and moved him up to sixth place in the Riders’ Standings, just 67 points behind points leader Jorge Martín.
– With nine Grands Prix still remaining on the 2026 calendar, this podium finish puts Acosta firmly in the race for a top three finish in the World Championship.
– Just off the podium, Álex Márquez finished fourth on his BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP machine to complete another successful weekend that kept him in the top 10 overall of the Rdiders’ Standings.
– Behind the leading group, Enea Bastianini claimed eighth for Red Bull KTM Tech3 after a hard fought scrap with Pro Honda LCR rookie Diogo Moreira and Brand Binder on the second Red Bull KTM Factory Racing bike.
– Johann Zarco finished the Grand Prix inn 15th position, one spot ahead of Red Bull KTM Tech3’s fill-in rider Pol Espargaró, while two-time WSBK champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu failed to finish the race.
