It’s more than just a race; it’s a journey—a challenge born from a passion for adventure and a deep respect for the legends of rally raid. The Sonora Rally has always been the bridge between the dreams of North American racers and the global Dakar stage. It’s a proving ground carved into the magnificent and unforgiving landscapes of the Sonoran Desert, designed to forge skill, determination, and camaraderie under the desert sun. And now, the organization is thrilled to set the course for the future, officially announcing that the 2026 Sonora Rally will take place from March 15th to 20th.
The announcement comes just as the rally community celebrates the recent acceptance of a slate of Sonora Rally veterans into the 2026 Dakar Rally. This recurring achievement further cements the Sonora Rally’s role as a critical stepping stone for privateers and pros with their eyes on the ultimate prize in Saudi Arabia. The entire organization extends its congratulations to the following riders in the bike category, whose talent and tenacity will be on full display this coming January:

· Preston Campbell
· Brandon Krause

Among these celebrated riders, special attention turns to rookies Preston Campbell and Brandon Krause, who will both be making their debut at the prestigious Dakar Rally. Both riders come from an incredible racing lineage, with Preston being the son of off-road legend Johnny Campbell and Brandon following in the footsteps of his famous father, Paul Krause. Campbell clinched his spot by winning the 2025 Sonora Rally in what was remarkably his first attempt at the event. Krause secured his path to Saudi Arabia by winning the coveted “Dakar Dreams” prize—a significant aid awarded by the Sonora Rally organization to support a promising privateer’s journey. Their success stories perfectly embody the spirit of the rally, showcasing it as a direct pipeline for new talent to achieve their ultimate goals.
Success at this level begins with a single step, and for many, that step is taken at Sonora Rally’s intensive, hands-on roadbook training schools. These educational programs are a key factor in preparing competitors for the unique challenges of international rally raid. For those ready to begin their own journey or sharpen their skills before March, the organization is confirming two upcoming training opportunities in the legendary dunes of San Luis Rio Colorado:

· February 14-15, 2026
These schools offer the only opportunity to train directly with the source, where drivers and riders learn to master roadbooks and then immediately apply those skills in the vast expanse of the Gran Desierto de Altar.
