I like quality products, do you like quality products? Seems like an odd question to be asking, because of course everyone likes quality.
The reason I ask this question is because in today’s markets there are so many versions of one type of product at so many different price points. You legitimately have to ask yourself where do you place the value of quality versus price? Do you buy quality no matter the price, or do you give up some quality for a more affordable option?
That decision is made more often than we realize it. Pretty much anything we buy, that question can be raised.
There are few times and even fewer products where high quality can still come at an affordable price point. It’s like finding a unicorn in the middle of the desert.
And with that long intro, I give you the Girsan MC 1911 S. A firearm I honestly can say from my time reviewing it, meets my standard for Unicorn status. This firearm is built with amazing quality parts, with great machining at a highly affordable price. MSRP $512 USD.
Thanks to the great people at EAA Corp we at Torqued Magazine had the wonderful opportunity to get one of these babies in our hands. And we have so much man love to give this gun.
We received our test unit in a well built hard plastic case. It came with a cleaning wire brush and a gun lock. The owners manual was extremely informative. I love a owners manual that helps you get accustomed to the gun and with detailed easy to understand cleaning instructions. This gun is super simple to take apart and clean. And that’s always one of my favorite aspects of a firearm. There are no additional tools needed to take down this gun and reassemble it besides what is included with the gun.
Girsan has produced various colors and finishes for the MC 1911 S. Our test unit came in the Silver/Black finish. And whew what a beauty. This gun is so beautiful esthetically. It literally is a work of art. I just love looking at it. The gun comes with a skeletonized trigger and a skeletonized hammer and it just works perfectly to produce the amazing outcome.
The grips are super comfortable and completely interchangable. The MC 1911 S comes with two safety factors which include a thumb safety switch and a grip safety. I really enjoy the thumb safety on this gun, as it is double sided and works great for right and left handed shooters. Hooray for us lefties. The 1911 S is chambered in a .45 ACP round and comes with a 8 round capacity magazine.
In my time with this gun I found myself loving it more and more everytime I took it out to the range. It’s just a super fun gun to shoot. It feels super comfortable and is built with the weigh perfectly centered which helps so much with the recoil of a .45 sized round. Wrist breaker not found here. It’s got a super easy to rack slide with a well tensioned spring. And with a big smile I can say I have not had a misfire with this gun. I’ve put a large amount of ammo through this guy and she’s never failed me.
The MC 1911 S comes with a well sized picatinny rail that works perfectly for your additional accessories. I added a laser/flashlight combo to my rail and it worked great and didn’t affect the balance on the gun at all. The sights on this gun are great. Girsan comes with multiple options for red dot sight additions as well.
We’ve enjoyed every minute with the MC1911 S as it has brought us a lot of fun with a super high quality affordable firearm. Girsan has themselves a winner with this gun. Definitely check out EAA Corp and the Girsan MC 1911 S.
